Sleep, A Privilege



      ‘There is no sunrise so beautiful that it is worth making me up to see it.’ Read this quote the other day. It is so inspirational! It has got the essence of my whole life in it.

Sleep has always been the first thing that comes to mind when we are free. It is the addictive feeling of unconsciousness that drives everybody crazy. The relaxed, calm, uncertain, yet rejuvenating state of mind that everyone is so certain to leap in. Sleep, is the best description of non-materialistic happiness.

My cousin got back from NDA last month. They only get about 5 to 5:30 hours of sleep there, and not even every day! Imagine that! When he got back, his one and only objective was to sleep. Not eating fancy food, going on vacations, meeting friends, or any other enjoyment a normal person would think of! Sleep was the only pleasure. It was (and still is) a privilege for him. So is for many others who have to sacrifice their sleep for their activities and schedule. However, when they get the chance, they get more-than-enough compensation for that sacrifice.

‘Early risers’ and ‘Night owls’ are two very important factors of sleep. I personally feel that the night owls enjoy sleeping more. As they do not have any restriction on their waking up. They sleep only once they are done with everything, and satisfied. In addition, they wake up only when they are done with the sleep. So good! They might not get enough sleep time due to their probable hyper-activeness, but they do get the sleep at its fullest! They sleep, with passion.

Although, the early risers also enjoy their sleep. They have got their ‘perfect sleep schedule.’ Even if they wake up early, they do complete the sleep. And are active and awake enough to proceed further. So, no offense to them too.

After these early risers & night owls, there are the ‘Ever sleepers.’ They are literally always sleeping! They do get a proper seven–hour sleep at night. However, they also sleep in the afternoon! Yeah, I mean; sleep is heaven for all of us. But they just, dwindle its value, its essence. Sleep, is a privilege. Let us not make it quotidian.

The next point is about the elasticity of sleep. Sleep is super elastic! If you sleep for only six hours for a year straight; and are allowed to sleep more the very next day, you will DEFINITELY grab it! It might happen unknowingly, but for sure, you will sleep much more than how much you used to sleep. It is just like Parkinson’s Law. Duration of sleep depends on the post–wake up events. In spite of that, there are some people who have ‘plastic sleep.’ They follow their sleep schedule even after the restrictions are removed. Well, I cannot say anything to them other than, Hats off!

One of the most important things that come along with sleep is, ‘pre-sleep scenarios.’ We are lying on the bed, kindly waiting for sleep. Imagining scenarios that give peace, make us happy. That one goal I would have scored, that one prize I would have banged, that one trek I would have done! Most of the time there are ‘fake scenarios.’ But they do give eternal peace. These scenarios and overall thoughts too, give rise to another uncertain thing in the world, ‘Dreams.’ That fantasy life we live! Sometimes, they feel super cool, happy, soothing. Sometimes they just drive us crazy, sometimes scare us. Nevertheless, dreams do enrich our sleep. ✨✨

Despite all these things, the best sleepers in the world are not mentioned and even described above. ‘Babies’ sleep the best! They do not have to imagine scenarios, nor do they care about the dreams. They just, sleep. So good. They haven’t got anything to do after waking up. They get the purest sleep. No wake-up restrictions, no work, no studies, no alarm, nothing! In addition, they sleep only when they are tired; not when it is the time. They sleep the moment they lay down on the bed. They are the best (And cutest) sleepers I have seen!

Lastly, there is me! Writing this article about sleep, while sacrificing it. However, I do make sure I get it to its fullest. I am a pure sleeper. So wish you all a very good night. Let us sleep, and get to our lives’ highest, calmest, and best! The Puzzled Falcon is gonna sleep now! ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜ด

 

Ps. Describing sleep is also like sleep. You cannot really stop enjoying it!

  15. Then there is Fake Sleep especially applied to married males.It automatically comes to them when their dear spouse try to send them on errands.Its deep Slumber I have seen avid readers who read while walk but have you come across avid sleeper in standing position .
