People have always seen ‘movie’, as a way to relax… they think that watching movies is nothing but time pass and some entertainment. Nothing else! They have engraved in their minds that ‘watching a movie = waste of time!’

But today, I question this equation! Do those people really know what watching a movie is like? Do they know the multitasking, complexities, information collection behind watching a movie?!

Wait! Let us list down the details of watching a movie

1.     Watch the movie ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

2.     Listen to the movie ๐Ÿ˜

3.     Read the subtitles (Optional) ๐Ÿ˜‘

4.     Do all the 3 things simultaneously ๐Ÿคฏ

5.     Solve the conspiracies

6.     Analyse the timeline

7.     Recollect the reason & logic behind EVERY event

8.     Study the attitude, behaviour, specialities of every character

9.     Justify “EVERYTHING”

10.   Troll the villain, curse the one who does some mistake, and everything
        changes

11.   Make your own theories, like “if this would not happen, that would be so
good, everyone would live happily, happy ending!”

12.   Curse the storywriter for killing your favourite character for
        (according to you) no reason

13.   Read some articles explaining & justifying the whole plot

14.   Feel overwhelmed! (Happy, sad, satisfied, clueless, etc etc…)

15.   Collect information about the star-cast

16.   Search about the side actors, who still make a huge impact in the story

17.   Study some commercial aspects (Release date, rating, budget, box office
        collection, records, awards, etc etc…)

18.   Listen to its songs

19.   Then again search about its singers, their other songs, etc etc…

20.   Tell your friends how good that movie was

21.   Finally, Search about its next part

22.   If there is, watch it ASAP
If not, feel sad, regret your eager, forcefully feel that “this movie is so
awesome, it doesn’t need to be a sequel”

23.   Still feel sad that so fascinating journey finished so quick

24.   Find some new equally amazing movies

25.   REPEAT!

So this was the short detailed list of what we actually do while watching a movie. And more importantly, we do all this hard work INDEPENDENTLY! Do we ever seek your help? Has a guy come to you, and asked about the conflicts in interstellar? Or has he questioned the behaviour of Loki? Or asks you to simplify and justify all the twists in WAR?!

Moreover, who says we cannot gain knowledge by watching movies? I have learnt the special theory of relativity by watching interstellar, learnt the whole human immune system after watching “I am legend”, searched about Area 51 after watching MIB, now I’m learning about Quantum mechanics just to not feel dumb while watching young Sheldon and big bang theory. And if we talk about value education, I’ve learnt the importance of knowledge from 3 idiots, the significance of education from “I am Kalam” and “Ubuntu”. About hope and struggle through “Pursuit of Happyness” and “I am legend”.  About empathetic social behaviour from “Tare Zameen Par” and Joker…!

So I think, people who underestimate a filmophile should re-evaluate their opinions & thoughts, re-explore the world of movies! Should seek for its beauty, should hunt its treasure, and just descend in the realm of movies…..

  5. The content was analytical but I think that movies change your holistic
Like 'Life of Pi ' will make you believe in god
'Dil Bechara' shows the reality of youngsters having saviour disease
    And the list goes on...

  6. I would say that watch movie fun is a good way to relax, but looking towards screen continuously for 3 hour our eye sight get damage.
Therefore watching movie for a short duration, may be hrs a day and 3 day 1 movie would be better.
Also blink your eyes while seeing screen

Great efforts Malhar the points are totally correct.
